Default 5.3 Silverado upgrades

I recently purchased a bone stock 2006 Silverado reg. cab 5.3 2wd 119,000 mileage. The only thing I have done to it is change the oil with royal purple and put a fram oil filter on it. I really want to max out performance in acceleration and get more HP and MPG. I was considering getting a spectre cold air intake in a few days, I was just wondering what would be the best ways of getting faster without spending thousands.

tune, headers, exhaust, converter, gears for good power without breaking into the engine. then if still want more could always do head, cam, and intake but more expensive.

No matter what direction you take, you will "spend thousands".

if i was you i would get a set of longtube headers get a catless y pipe and run it to your choice of free flowing muffler then run the rest of the pipe out to the back bumper.

just something free flowing. best thing would be to get some stainless steel long tube headers and a high flow muffler.

definitely get a custom tune from ether a reputable local shop or from one of the sponsor with a autocal.

converter will help with the get up and go but may loose some mpg.

gears will also help some but depends on the size of tires you want to run.

intake wise only get a airaid MIT tube. been proven to dyno better then the rest.

heads and cam would be more work but will give the best bump in power but they cost a lot. had to put new heads on my truck because the infamous 706 head leak. so i ended up getting the better 799 heads and milled them to raise the compression some. definitely can feel the difference.

Look to speed engineering for exhaust.
No one can touch their prices.
Until they release their exhaust. Just swap in a cheap hooker max flow muffler.

Do the 08 truck intake manifold upgrade.
Corvette servo, billet 3/4 and billet cap, pinless accumulator piston.
That specter cai and a real tune.

You will be happy.

I didn't take the cheap route, but I feel the best exhaust you can ever give an LS is Kooks/Corsa.
And I have to mention, it's proven, unless you're making retarded power, there's nothing to gain from running catless, except federal fines, crappy sound, and crappy smells.
X2 on the AirRaid pipe. I have a very well built and designed expensive intake and I just seems to make it sound cooler. If I did it over that's all I'd do.
