Default The LSX S10

Here we go with another ls swap. First off its a '87 owned since 2005. This was my first truck purchased when i was 16. Bone stock when i bought it. 2.8/auto tahoe package. I stopped using it as my daily driver in '07. Only take out on weekends or shows/cruise-ins. My goals is swap a Ls engine while maintaining to be very reliable, very comfortable, and able to go to the strip occasionally, while making this look like a clean install. 84-89 vette radiator
Dual 10" proform e-fans
Custom shroud
Vintage Air hot rod condenser
17"x8" Jegs torque thrust d
Nexen N3000 245/45/17
Belltech 2/3 drop
fiberglass roll pan
Paint is Ford T.S. silver with GM 8885 black stripes
2" goodmark cowl hood

Out with the old! It would have probably been just as easy to pull off the fenders and core support but I wanted to see if it could be done the hard way. Lol

Now for the good stuff! Picked up a complete running 2001 model 5.3 LM7 from LKQ. 100k miles. Everything except the harness for 600$ and it came with a warranty. I will be using a Current Performance Wiring harness anyway so it's all good!

Well when I pulled the oil pan off I found some junk laying loose in the pan, also the cam bearings looked horrible so to be safe I decided to break it down go through it completely.

Fresh coat of paint! Not so thrilled about VHT silver. Looks kinda blue in my shop lights. Lol

That sucks about the motor but its best to go thru them & know what you got.

I was gonna buy & install a junkyard motor but decieded to build a motor that way I know what's in there & everything is going fine & so far its been the best thing I have done.

Nice looking truck !! Keep posting pics.

Build looks good man, your doing a lot of what I did with mine. I take it your going with the hot cam for the sound over performance? what's the details on the rebuilt trans?
