Default Zo6 cam in 03 hummer h2?

Would this be a decent option if I want more power. Would it effect my daily drivability? The whole truck is stock except for exhaust. Also, would it be realistic to make 400 crank hp with $1200 in parts?

Cracking the engine open like that for such little gains...

Go bigger on the cam, that camshaft isn't worth the money.

If you know how to tune, it will run just like factory pretty much and not change drivability.

Do you have any recommendations for a cam?

Yea that cam in such a heavy truck is only OK.

It's a lot of work for what is modest gain at that point.

What are you trying to accomplish? How much do you drive it? How about idle manners? Do you want it to chop, or do you just want a bump in power?

Texas speed low lift cams have yielded good results without sacrificing driveability.

That's what's on my list for my Avalanche and my neighbor's 5.3 Caprice build.

I want at least 400-450 crank hp. Right now it's my dd but will soon be a weekend car. I want it to chop as much as possible on a $1200 parts budget (not including tune)

I want it to idle like this

yeah, most of what you'll get from an LS6 cam is top end, and for an LQ4, that's a baby cam.
this is about the idle you'd expect:

What you need to think of is this for the LS6 cam and sound....... it came in a 5.7 from the factory in a Corvette and they didn't lope....... Putting it in a bigger engine..... well it will idle like the stocker. The above video just has loud enough exhaust you have rasp at idle.... no lope.
