Which piston/rod combo for L92 with boost?
Building my L92 for a single turbo setup. I've been doing research but wanted to see other's opinions. This build will be a daily capable, street driven truck that will be able to tow occasionally. Looking to be around 650awhp with the ability to turn it up later on down the road.
Now that that's out of the way, pistons and rods, what do you guys think? I don't want the compression too low, I was thinking about 10:1 or so (stock heads). What bore size makes sense? And then there's the I-beam vs H-beam debate for the rods. Just looking for some ideas and opinions.

For daily use I'd forged pistons and rods.
My 6.0 ate 2 pistons shortly after I got the turbo on. 642 to the wheels 9#s of boost. Good tune, AFR was in the 11s when the engine shut down. On 100% meth.
I got the heads off. #3 was in pieces, went thru the entire top end into the downpipe. #7 was cracked.
Or take advice from the guy with a stock truck

Having a stock truck has nothing to do with it, it's pretty much just common knowledge to know how far you can take these engines.
To me it's not worth spending that money if the stock pistons and rods can handle the power safely and proven to do so countless times and the fact he isn't going to absurd power levels.

Also a boosted, daily driven engine is going to see much more abuse than a weekend ride that sees some 1/4 mi passes and then parks. Also, if this truck gets him to work, it is worth the money.
And 600 rwhp is not an "absurd" amount of power on this forum.. It is a lot. And it will break ****. Try making some and find out for yourself.

Can you make 800 on a stock motor, ya. No way I would try it for a daily driver though, not unless you have a spare daily you can use. Stock crank will be fine but at the slightest hint of detonation the stock pistons and rods will not be happy.
Turn it down to 600 and run meth for a fuel safety net in case of bad gas and a safe tune and it will do fine for awhile. But plan for the worst.

As others have said, if its 600 I keep it stock on a conservative tune no problem. If its not you should go to something else. My biggest concern would be the pistons. Even a 4032 like a Mahle would likely be fine for your goals. I wouldnt hesitate to run a basic compstar H beam rod either.
