That's like the third account of a newly-bought used motor being severely disabled I've read about in the past month...I can almost believe the sellers don't know what's up with it cause who takes the time to register an account, post a sale thread, sell out of their own home and not fully expect the buyer to come back guns blazing a few days later? It's not like these ppl are selling out of the back of their truck in a parking lot. Even if i was a real ***** and thought up ways to screw ppl out of money at night, I'd just put the cheapest parts I could to make sure it at least turned over when the buyer got it home.
hard to believe there are such shady ppl out there.

yep, i got hosed on ebay a year ago by some basterd. bought a 5.3 that was a pullout of a flood vehicle. i was going to bore to a 5.7 if the cylinders were too rusty. gets to my house and there is a ****** hole the size of a tennis ball in the block right by the starter. the dumb *** forgot to inform me that they hydro-locked it and the back 2 rods came through the block. then the old head giver wouldnt even reply to my messages. Im sure he didnt know

I just spun the crank with one head off, the front piston dont move up and down. rod broke or something. gonna slam it back together and take it back to the guy. get my dough back or im gonna put my fist through the back of his head. maybe both. told me it was a 5.3, and its broke! Sum bitch.

So i little update, i went to this guys shop last night after i got off work to return his hunk of s**t and get my money back. I waste my timing driving over there for him to tell me " i dont have your money right now". WTF? I bought it from you yesterday morning dude? I get some kind of sob story, and i am getting more and more pissed. As we were "discussing" the situation, i must have been putting the fear of god in this dude cause he kept moving back and trying to put inanimate objects between me and him! My friend that came with me was trying to diffuse the situation from getting out of hand (thankfully) and suggested we take some collateral as insurance of him paying me back my $350. I now have a 1/2 inch air gun, and an almost new edelbrock carb till i get my money. He told me monday. Yeah right. Believe it when i see it. He kept saying "you just have to trust me." I told him he is up in the night if he thinks im gonna do that.
I so wanted to just blast this guys teeth through the back of his head, but that probably wouldnt have gotten my money back. And bail would probably be more than the original $350!

if the block is iron, i would bet on a 4.8l. if block is aluminum, would be 5.3l HO motor. to be sure, just mike the bores to be sure. someone might have built an iron block ls1 with it. no telling its past. pretty much all three are identical externally. and if your boosting, u might wanna stay 4.8l. those motors love all the boost you can throw at them. at any rate, enjoy and have fun with your project.
