Default 4.3 to 5.3 rebuild

i picked up a 5.3 donor truck to swap into my nbs so i can finally join the cool kid v8 club. along with the swap i am planning on replacing some parts along with adding a few go faster goodies. i drive like a grandpa so i don't need anything super fast but since i am replacing some stuff i might as well get a little more power out of it. the v8 truck had 185k on it so i want to refresh it up a little.

tsp 220/220 112lsa cam
ls2 timing chain
ls7 lifters
ls2 lifter trays
melling oil pump
since i am removing the heads to replace the lifters i have been debating on getting some 243/799 heads or should i just freshen the 862s up
all new gaskets
pacesetter longtubes
3200 stall
tune

im sure i am missing something so is there anything else yall would recommend?

If 243 heads are in the budget I so go for it, just remember to mill them to get your compression back up. I believe 0.030 will put you close to 10:1 which should be a nice with that cam.

Also, don't forget fuel upgrades.

You will want to get a higher flowing pump and injectors to start. May also need an aftermarket regulator if the new pump pushes through the stock one. For your list of mods I think a 255 LPH pump would work and some have reported a pump that size working with stock FPR and some have reported it not working. Get you some 8.1L marine injectors which are plug and play to what you already have but flow 42#/hr. There are actually a couple of sets for sale in the classified section I believe.

If you go bigger than the 220 cam you may also think about going with a larger stall converter than the 3200 you have planned.
