RCSB 5.3L 8spd?

I drove a 2016 Challenger with a 5.7 for 8 days on the coast and the trans shifted pretty good. That car moved alright.... nothing like these mythical youtube sensation mid 12 second tune only trucks but not bad. Bone stock it would probably run mid 13's which is pretty respectable.
More importantly though it didn't clunk near as much ( a little now and again) but no lag and shifted well. If my truck was like that I would never take it to the dealer and it would have a blower on it already!

I really have no idea why you guys think you want the 8 speed. It's a disaster..... GM needs to really fix this junk before they start adding it to more platforms. If it shifts correctly and all is well it is a fun trans and I would love to have it even in my old 05. As they are though..... well....... The ZF in the Dodge's is a better transmission by far.
But we are on the verge now of the 10 speed so look out.... lol.

The 6 speeds are nothing in comparison to the 8 speed.. Absolutely nothing. 6 speed guys of the current trucks don't even have a reason to bitch if you go drive an 8...

I agree, I have no complaints with my old 6 speed. Ignoring all the clunks and bangs that obviously aren't right.... In a straightline its great but daily driving with the 8 speed is awkward. Quick stop and go it gets hung up between 1st and 2nd. Along with upshifting in the middle of a turns and bogging down I'm not sure how much of it could easily be fixed with proper tuning. I guess it'd be nice if it the stretched the gears out a bit.

Rams are magical... But who cares.. The internet is full of all kinds of bullshit like Fast355. None the less a proper shifting 8 speed would be a nice bonus GM won't give... And adding 2 more gears won't make this any better. I am willing to bet money the version of the 10 speed in the Ford's will shift better haha.

The reason they are building 8 and 10 speed trannys is fuel mileage.
They MAY accelerate better from a standing start at wot, but as daily drivers a 6 speed
with 3.73 will out perform an 8 speed.
I would swap a 6 speed into my 2015 6.2 if it was feasible.
I had a well tuned 2010 6.2 speed and it shifted exactly as you would want a performance tranny to behave.
Can't say the same for my 8 speed.
Great motor though.
IMHO
