K2xx 6.2 muffler
Is the muffler on the 6.2 on the new trucks any different than the one on the early 6.2 like a 2010 ..... on the early 3.5" in out 6.2 everyone said the muffler was very free flowing no need to upgrade ....... just curious if the muffler internals have changed much ?? I know some new ones have the 3" outlet but are the internals very different ?

They are all 3" in and out. Mine had the 3" tail but you could see the pipe reduce as it entered the muffler and the valve and outlet is only 3". Crew cabs have 3" tailpipes and double cabs have 3.5"... or did at least in 2015.

Yeah but he isn't clear in his post at all about what he wants..... doesn't care about the outside pipe diameter.... He wants to know what the inner diameter of the piping inside the muffler is.....
And for fun..... that is not a blanket statement for all trucks either. If you have a crew cab it gets the 3" tailpipe..... if you have a double cab like mine it is 3.5" out of the resonator and right to the tip.
Clearly you can see mine maintained 3.5" for the tailpipe and only necked down for the flapper valve itself... My truck now has the 3" tailpipe because it has the stock exhaust off a crew cab being I sold my factory one pictured above and had a Borla ATAK system on the truck...

I cut open the muffler from my 2010 6.2 and it was a normal baffled muffler on the inside, the resonator is straight through with noise cancelling tubes in the housing.
