GM says no to regear computer calibration
Had an interesting morning at the chevy dealer. I recently swapped a different rearend into my truck. Went from 3.08 to 3.42 gear. Took it to get reprogrammed today to correct my speedo. Tech takes the truck back, has it for about an hour. Then finds me and tells me GM can't or won't do it, he was on the phone the whole time with GM engineers. Apparently they email the tune and the dealer installs it. Well they refuse to send a tune, they aren't releasing the ability to do that. Tire size changes ok but not regears. Too many things would be in compatible is the excuse I got, too many different sensors and systems it would never work right. What a crock of $hit!
I then stood there and ordered HP tuners. Lol.

They are trying to steer clear from liability issues with ABS and so on...
It likely has to do with the work not being performed at the dealer.
The dealer only has the ability to flash files, Not to modify them. Those are done at GM by their software team.
The factory scan tools are allowed to make changes for tire size because in many area's people put different tires on for winter.
It's a crock but whatever.... That's why there is an aftermarket for that type of stuff.

Dealership says GM won't write the tune. Tire size changes are ok but that's it. The service manager called me yesterday and said he'd be willing to mess with the tire size calibration until the speedo is as close as he can get it. I said thank but no thanks I'm just gonna do it myself with HP tuners.

They are a pain in the *** lately. I called for an accessories wheel tune the other day and they told me Bridgestone Alenzas aren't supported but Bridgestone Dueler ATs were, even though they are both P285/45R22. I needed to give them The RPO code for each tire, so If you are using a tire that isn't a factory installed option, they won't allow a retune for tires either.
