Default Fishtailing.............

Hey guys, I'm inquiring if anyone with Gen 5 has been able to turn off the traction control nanny. I a 2001 Sierra(gen 3), got a 2011(gen 4) but didn't like it because- for the life of me couldn't disable TC, even in 2wd on a snow parking lot I couldn't throw the truck around. Long story short- I got a 2006 Sierra love all the tune ability but newer is nice but not if I can't throw out the tail when I need to.....
TIA

Where there is a will there is a way. It took me some figuring out, but it can be done! ABS, Traction control, and Stabilitrak all work off the wheel speed sensors. I discovered if you unplug one of them, then the system faults and all three are turned off. Plugging it back in with the truck running reinitializes all three. What I did was wire in a switch that cuts power to the drivers side front sensor so I can turn on/off on the fly. When you turn the power to the speed sensor back on the systems reinitialize after a couple seconds and all dash lights go out. The only downfall I've found is if you are actively braking when you cut power the system thinks you locked up a wheel and ABS cuts brakes for a brief moment before the system faults and turns everything off. I call the button the "fun button"

Sigh- that's it, huh? I found out the same thing when field mice ate the WPS wires on my 2011; I could drive again but, as you've pointed out- the dash lights were on. Thanks for sharing your solution............

That or pull the 60a ABS fuse. I wanted to be able to switch it from the cab. I also looked for a 12v 60a relay so I could switch power to the fuse, but finding one that's weather tight was hard and $$.

Pulling the fuse lights up the dash too. Plus it still leaves TC on I believe because only ABS and Stabilitrak use the ABS pump. TC is all wheel speed and throttle position sensor based.

Was hoping there was something I could write out in the tune. Always understood the way it worked was the sensors at all 4 corners if on wheel goes faster or a different speed the system freaks out and cuts power, not a fun thing.........

You can tune out the traction control, which is what cuts power, but you can't tune out stabilitrak which uses the abs to "steer" the vehicle. So you can then do rolling burnouts in a line, but the second you start to drifr/yaw stabilitrak clamps down on the brakes using the abs system

Yeah it's unfortunate on these GM clamped them down so tight..... What I find totally funny is I have a 2014 current bodystyle Impala. The car is just a 2LT which means it does have the 305 hp 3.6 in it..... it's actually pretty fun to drive to be honest even as a wrong wheel drive.

The fun part..... I can totally disable the stabilitrack with the button in that car..... why does GM make a 4wd offroad package truck not be able too.... but granny's grocery getting commuter car sure can.... makes sense. Dumbasses.....

I can basically disable the stabilitrac in the 2012 silverado if you hold the button for 10 seconds. Doing drifting and donuts in the snow is still totally possible and I'd say that even though it's disabled it's somewhat there 10-15% of the time but not enough to get in the way.
