Default 8l90e problems?

Has anyone on here had any problems with there 8l90e? Mine made it to 6k miles and I noticed the "shuttering" long story short... it ended up that my tq convertor warped...GM fixed and now it runs great! In the summer time I tow a boat that weights 10klbs anywheres from 10 mintues down the road to 3.5 hours down the road and it never skips a beat now!

So now that i have had the tq fixed, I'm wanting to install my headers, e85 and tune on the truck, but i have heard from one source that once the tq convertor is fixed they are really strong. This guy deals with these trans on the daily and has multiple c7 and 8l90e trucks he tunes that are supercharged fbo ETC... The other source told me that they are having problems. Hes also a tuner him self, but he was told this information from a guy who helps out a local GM dealership with transmission problems.

So i guess the question is....do i wait a few more months to see whats really going on with the 8l90e? There will be a lot more of them since they will be in the 5.3s or should i just say screw it and risk trans failure and come out of pocket for the repairs...

We've seen 2 or three with tq conv issues. They all had a shudder issue. Tq conv replacement took care of problems.

A buddy just broke an input shaft on a 2700 mile 2916 Yukon do Denali. Not cool...

He's not the only example of that I've heard of.

A Yukon Do Denali sounds pretty sweet too.

I guess if 250 people saw this and I had 2 negatives about the transmission I'm going to go far it... especially since I fixed the tq convertor.

I had my stator replaced for a delay from park and then clunking and banging. Well... It still lags from park and clunks and bangs lol.

If it's any conciliation though.. I have a 2016 Challenger R/T rental that is basically brand new with their 5.7 and 8 speed. It doesn't lag from park... But it clunks and does just as much weird **** as my Chev does so oh well lol.

Mine did the same thing... I threw the biggest fight inside of my local dealer. I demanded to drive another one like it.... took them 2 months to find one...well the other truck did the same thing. They told me it was "normal".... I'm going to call them in a few minutes and tell them I want it looked at again...especially if they did something to yours.

Does it clunk and bang around 25mph when it changes gears for acceleration? It also delays big time too., put it in park give it the gas and nothing for about 2 seconds.

My 2017 had a slight clunk shifting the first 50miles, after that everything is working fine. Ive been wanting to tune the truck but reading about all these issues is keeping me stock for now. The other day I was pumping gas and a guy in 15' or 16' model came up to me and asked if I have had any problems. He said he has had the tranny replaced twice and still having all kinds of issues with the transmission, he was so fustrated he was just going to trade in the truck.
