Default 2014 5.3 Silverado | TVS1900/ARH/Custom Camshaft Results!

Just a quick introduction for those who haven't talked with me before, I am the Director of Sales & Marketing for Vengeance Racing out of Cumming, GA. We're a LSX/LTX performance shop that specializes in modification and tuning of late model GM performance vehicles. Being surrounded by these vehicles every day, and having an extensive personal LSX background, I decided to begin the build on my daily driven 2014 RCSB 5.3 Silverado.

The truck was purchased new in early 2014 at John Megel Chevrolet, and is a LT package with the optional tow package and 3.42 rear end. The truck was extremely impressive, especially compared to the 2007 Classic 5.3 that I owned several years ago. Aesthetics were the first thing to address as the ride height on the new 2WD trucks is INSANELY high!

The initial setup was a set of GM take-off 20" chrome LTZ wheels, Belltech spindles and Rough Country spacers up front, and Rough Country flip kit w/ Belltech shackles/shocks in the rear. The look was amazing, but the tires were much too big for the drop, and a c-notch was definitely needed.

For a more manageable and DD friendly ride height, we removed the Rough Country spacers, installed a set of Belltech front lowering springs (set at 1.5"), and re-installed OEM shackles in the rear. This greatly improved ride quality, stiffened up the front end which I really wanted, and allowed a decent size wheel/tire to clear with no rubbing. We also worked with MHT Wheels to install a set of their new Dub Skillz in a 22x9.5, and wrapped them in 285/45/22 Nitto NT420S. The look was perfect for the truck, and we will be wrapping all of the chrome in gloss black very soon to finish off the look.

NOW TO THE FUN PART

For performance, we decided to put together a package that was not only extremely powerful for a street truck, but also very safe for DD use, and reliable in the long term with the OEM bottom end and transmission. Our first round of modifications consists of:

* Magnuson TVS1900 Supercharger System
* Vengeance Racing non-DOD custom camshaft w/ 32% fuel pump lobe
* ARP head bolts
* C5R timing chain
* CompCams trunion upgrade on the stock rockers
* CompCams .660" dual valve springs & hardened pushrods
* American Racing Headers 1 3/4" longtube header system w/ off road y-pipe
* Stock muffler w/ turndown and deleted resonator
* OEM C7 LT1 Fuel Injectors

The install went extremely smooth, and we were very impressed by the ease of installation of the header system and supercharger system. The camshaft does require quite a bit of work and time to hard delete the DOD, but the extremely choppy idle and great performance made it all worth while.

The base Magnuson system comes with a 3.75" supercharger pulley which produces 7.5psi on a 100% stock truck, and 5psi on our combination (boost bleed off due to the camshaft and headers). Due to this, we installed Magnuson's 3" pulley which brought us back up to 8.5psi!

The results were 464rwhp / 472rwtq! That's 176rwhp / 166rwtq increase over the stock baseline!! Also, the truck baselined 30rwhp lower than any Gen V 5.3L truck that we've had on the dyno before due to the much larger and heavier wheels/tires, and it being a 90* day here in Georgia. We expect to see 480rwhp+ on the same combination with stock 17" wheels and tires.

Stay tuned as we will install an AlkyControl methanol injection system next, as well as test the all new TVS2300 for the Gen V 5.3/6.2L!

Nice, i have a 2014 5.3 the maggie and no cam no headers stock pulley with heavy 315/50/20 terra grapplers making wheels at 85lbs a piece with right at 400 to the tire on 93. Does your cam also increase fueling capacity. With e85 get another 20ish but havent cleaned up the tune enough to get solid numbers yet.

Thoughts on 6.2 tb, injectors, pump? Or just use meth?

2300 available now? Hmmmmm.....

Awesome truck!

Wacky you got 3.73s. I got the tow package with mine and it came with 3.42s. I couldn't figure out how to configure it for 3.73s.

The only way to get 3.73's was a double cab or crew cab with the NHT max tow package. I think they are thinking 3.42's.

I saw a totally stock 14 5.3 make 418 with a very conservative tune last week. The only mod was the 1900 and stock pulley. He had full cats and everything. Also had 285/55-20 bfg ko all terrains. Doesnt seem like cam/ headers are paying off on lower boost.

Thank you!

I actually like it a lot better without. The stock valence hung way too low for my taste and got destroyed with the previous drop.

The pump on the 6.2 and 5.3 are exactly the same, but the injectors are well worth it. I haven't tested E85 yet but will very soon. I'm planning to use a C7 throttle body when I swap to the TVS2300 and will have meth on at that time too (going for a lot more boost).

That's extremely high compared to any others we've seen. Even Magnuson's shop truck put down 385rwhp on our dyno on 93 octane, 7.5psi, and just a cat-back.
