Default PRNDM Cluster?

Once I swap in the six speed tranny in place of my 4L60, I would like to use the different cluster for the 6L80 and use the tap up/down feature. My question is, if I get the truck style cluster with the PRNDM readout off another truck can I just plug it in and it'll work?

I was told it wouldn't work and that I would have to get a new one and have that one custom programmed to work on my vehicle.

Anyone know?

Oops forgot about that
My trucks a 2009 2WD RCSB Silverado
The new cluster would be off another nnbs, probably a 2500HD or whatever other truck uses the non-uplevel cluster. I already know the uplevel clusters like the ones in the Escalade or Denali wont work since they're different than the style in my rcsb.

i don't see why you couldn't make it work somehow considering you can get the 6spd auto in the RCSB now, along with that cluster and the tap shift gear selector i would imagine the BCM would have to be reflashed or something..sorry i couldn't be more help

You need to have a cluster that has a matching code to your BCM OS. Then everything plugs in but the wires need to be reconfigured in the plug for the tap up/down to work. I seem to recall the cluster having a 3 digit code that belongs to the BCM OS. And I think each BSM OS has several cluster codes that will work with it.

Good Luck

How would I be able to match the code from a different cluster to a different bcm?
You think this could be done with a tune or....?

I talked to the guys at digital dash solutions, I think thats what there called, and they said they use custom programming that would make any of their cluster compatible with my truck. You think this is true?

Btw, thanks for the replies.

I think I'll probably be going with one of their clusters and have them custom program it and save myself the headache. I'm also thinking of getting the gauges done to match the RST ones I have right now.

How hard will it be to re-wire the column shifter so that I can use the tap up tap down feature?

Yeah hopefully when I get to the point when I'm installing the cluster and shifter someone will help me out with a wiring diagram.
