Well a little update and I apologize for how bad my first post was written. I had a coworker talking my head off as I wrote it and I didn't proof read it, writing is not my strong suit anyway drafting is.

Well I messed up, I wasn't aware I was close to an oil change. So after it happen the first time I drove it for a day with the only thing that sounded different was at start up it had a rattle for just a seconded. Which I though was coming from my headers Y pipe.

It was wasn't, last night after driving down the Hwy again it came back so I pulled over and popped the hood and it knocked long enough for me to get the hood up then it went away. So this time I immediately checked the oil and it was at the very bottom of the markings on the stick. So I went to the closest gas station a dumped a quart in there and went home with no more knocking.

So this morning I got up and changed the oil.

Here's the thing I only drained 3/4 of a gallon out of it this morning. So it only had 3 quarts in it and that's after I added a quart last night.

I'm guessing with pulling my boat all summer I'm burning 4 quarts of oil between oil changes. That's sounds so bad. I guess I'll watch it and if it is burning that much, I might get rid of it.

Do you run a catch can on your truck? Also what type of oil do you run? Towing puts a lot of load on a motor and could heat the oil up considerably. 4 quarts is a lot I would imagine you would see it out the tail pipe.

And the exhaust is cut off right over the rear axle, right in front of where the old resonator was. I haven't seen any signs of oil in my concrete driveway but that doesn't mean it's not happening

I'm taking a hour drive both ways down the interstate tonight. So we'll see if it comes back now that I've changed the oil. It's been running fine the last couple days.

I still can't believe the oil was that low. Either it's burning oil bad and it's time to pass it on down the line before it completely goes. Or the last time I had it changed they didn't put the right amount in it. Sometime you have to learn a lessons the hard way.

The oil usage is one of the chief complaints of the DOD/AFM outside of the lucky ones that have it just fail and eat a lifter or two.

You need to just bite the bullet and do the delete. Brian Tooley sells a kit just for this purpose.

Made it there and back with no knocking and even said screw it and made a two pulls from 65 to 95 against an older mustang GT not the new 5.0. He didn't know what he was getting into by down shifting on me. Had 300 pounds of weight lifting equipment in the bed and still pulled him.

I guess I'll just watch the oil level and see how much oil it's using in the next few thousand mile.

If it's a dd that's modded mildly and left alone I'd drop a crate with a warranty in it and call it a day. By the time you rebuild a 6.2 the cost is approaching damm near what a crate costs and you don't have a warranty.
