Default How to wire in boost gauge?

How do i go about wiring in a boost guage? I am not real electrical savvy. I want it to come on with the rest of the dash lights and i would also like it too work with the dimmer. So how do i do this?

Simple power ground for the gauge and for the light just tap into a switch light wire or any light that dims with the cluster. Volt meter is gonna be your best friend for that. It's simple tho shouldn't be too hard. I tapped into the DIC wiring for my dimmer light.

I just have the lights a 12v power source from a headlight fuse. They dont dim that way, but they come on with the headlights. My gauge is mechanical so thats the only power it needed.

DIC is driver information center I think, the message area on the cluster.

You can use a wire splice or strip away from insulation and solder your wire to the one you are taping and seal it up with heat shrink or tape.

As a note, most LEDs do not dim like normal lights, they are pretty much either on or off.

Yeah can go about it either by soldering or with a wire tap. I have a led in my autometer gauge that came originally with a reg bulb and I don't have any issues with the dim function. I'll try and tak some pics of the wire I tapped to give you a better idea.

There are also RAP ports below the dash that you can use instead of hooking into a factory wire.

They are retained accessory power ports that are under the dash in the black box. Do a search for the pinouts online and use them to power things like gauges that you want on and off with the regular accessories. Mine come on with the key and go off like the radio does when you open the door.
