Default Compressing GMT900 strut springs

I have a pair McPherson compressors in good shape and air tools, and a buddy of mine was telling me these are fine for trucks springs. He said they're fine for a light-duty pickup such as my Avalanche, but using them on a HD would be against better judgment.

So, I should be able to use these and just replace the struts vs. buying an entire assembly, right?

What are your opinions or experiences?

GMT-900 that are 2500's or 3500' still run torsion bars up front, so you wouldn't even need those for a HD truck.

I'm not sure about those as I don't have either; my Avalanche is a 1500. I need to compress the coil over assembly to remove the factory strut, that much I know.

I'm asking if McPherson compressors are up to this job.

I just used a set to swap the springs on my 2012 to Belltech struts. Very simple job.

I just did this today, very easy task. Took about 3 hours for all four corners.
