60e is out and the 6spd is under the truck waiting. i am going to install the new wiring harness an cooler lines before the tranny goes back. there isnt a lot of room but the tranny looks like itll fit just fine. imma roll the cab seams so i can get to the transmission bolts easier. i need a new dipstick tube an the shifter bracket. i plan to have everything up and running in a couple weeks. i know the longest wait is the harness coming in. im going to check at the dealer Monday and see if they have the parts in or if ill have to order them. also with this 6spd is way bigger in diameter than this pos 60e

well i found out i have to move my carrier bearing bracket back about a 1-2" at mose to allow the front shaft to move back enough to allow the longer tranny. im not going to cut my mount down but ill simply just make a bracket to extend the carrier bearing back however far i need. its going to MadMan the first chance i get after its up running and moving on its own. i want to advise the idea like "smokeshow" and have a better dshaft made with all 1350 u-joints since honestly. the converters for these things are COSTLY! so i dont see myself getting one anytime soon

Hey niff I was reading on ano8ther thread and it looks like its gonna matter on the fuel pump we have for which harness we run.in my case its gonna have to be a non-flex pump.

thats really cool. when its all said and done, would you make a parts list and the amount for each? i know you have something like that on the front page, but just so we can add up the total price for this swap. reason being i might want to do this in the future if the price is worth it, i would just have to figure out how to sell some 4.88's and either swap in my stock gears or get some 4.30's.

See that's the reason I'm looking into this. I'm running 33s and I was gonna build up the 4l60e and do a 4.30 gear swap. With the 6speed and factory 3.73s I don't have to worry about a gear swap anymore. Plus I'll have a stronger trans.

i have a 2009 5.3/6spd/2wd DOD motor harness, not a flexfuel truck but good info, i didnt realize it mattered since they are the same motors minus injectors/fuel pumps. whats the difference with the harness? it has a different fuel pump/evap plug vs what i have now? the injectors are bigger but should require the same injector plugs.

the price of the swap all depends on how much the transmission will be for you. like i said i have less in this swap than a built 60e thats the only reason im going 6spd. the part list is a must bc id like to help anyone else out thatd wanna take this road. as far as the flexplate set up, when i bought my 6.2 it came with a flexplate i just swapped my 5.3 flexplate over. now that i have my 6spd i sold the SFI flexplate i had and im putting the stock one back on. i will double check with my spare flexplate to verify that we have to swap flexplates or if we dont.
