Wheel/Tire Suggestion on a Budget 2000 Sleeper Silverado
Hey guys,
Here is a pic of my sleeper 4.8 turbo putting down 600+ to the tire. I am working on a tight budget <$1000 and am looking for some wheels and tires that can support the hp I am putting down. I am not interested in fancy looking expensive wheels and like the factory/sleeper look. Any wheel and tires suggestions for front and rear? Really wanted to keep my factory wheels but being only 16 x 6.5" wheel it is not feasible for a drag radial setup.
P.S. I am now lowered 2" in the rear and have caltracs.
Thanks in advance!
-Jake

And I was looking at the Cragar Black "D" Window wheels. I might get the 15 x 10...I just need to make sure I match the 6 x 5.5" bolt pattern I have, right?
Thanks,
Jake

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I am thinking about just getting the 16x8 Cragar D Windows with Micky Thompsons. So will this be a direct bolt on or do I need any spacers or anything? I just want to be able to mount the wheels and tires and be good to go. I don't think many tires wil fit on my stock 16x6.5 wheels.
Thanks all!
Jake

Hello,
So I saw a good deal on some factory 17 x 7.5" Silverado wheels on craigslist and couldn't pass it up! What tires would you guys recommend to put on them for a weekend warrior vehicle? I want to run at least a 28" tire and seems like the M&H 275/50r17 is my only option at this time.
It will be a little narrow but should still be fine to run them on this wheel. However, I have heard you don't get much mileage out of them. Just wanted to hear some other options before I bit the bullet so to spoke and purchased expensive tires.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jake

ATOMIC was runing those wheels/tires on the front of his truck with the same wheels widened 1.5" and a wider tire in the rear. I don't remember the size, but if you look through his build thread it's in there. He ended up runing a small spacer in the rear. Looked great!

Drag radials up front wont last long... just want to toss that out there. I wouldnt do that if youre 4x4.
I did some research on street tires and I would either run the nitto 420 or the Goodyear RSA in a 275/60r17. The Nitto has a cooler tread pattern, but the Goodyear is actually a softer compound and is lighter... its also more expensive. I dont know which would hook better.
The other option on an 18" rim is the Nitto 555. Its short at 29", but its a great street tire and hooks pretty well considering.
If youre 2wd you can almost disregard this post lol.

I went ahead and ordered the MH 275/50R17. It will mostly be a weekend warrior truck and I have another car that I daily drive. I will post pics and feedback once I get them on and drive them for awhile.
Thanks everyone for the input,
Jake
