Water Pump Leak????
I was under my "New to Me" 2001 Z71 today and noted a couple things nothing major I hope, but anyway I thought I would ask.
I noticed a couple of drops of DexCool on the bottom of my water pump, and some small trails were the drops had fallen and worked there way down the front of the oil pan. I almost thought it was some sort of grease because they were not fluid like, they were little red-orange jel like drops. Is it normal for dexcool to jel up or is there something else going on?

I think it might be leaking slightly, but have not pin pointed the source of the fluid yet(gasket or weep hole)
So, does dexcool jel up like this if it sits for awhile?

Yes, DexCool will gell when exposed to heat and air. That's why it so important to keep the level up in the reservoir tank. If the tank goes dry, and you get air in the coolant in the motor, it will gell there too. You need to find the source of the leak and fix it.

Took the shroud and clutch fan off today, and found a good amount of fluid coming from the weep hole. So, I drained the cooling system and removed and replaced the pump with a new unit from NAPA. Also replaced the thermostat to be on the safe side, then replaced all the old DexCool with new pure DexCool and distilled water. Got everything back together and running good. Funny thing is I think my a/c gets colder now???
