and i dont think any engine had EGR in 2003 so they may have told you that the engine is newer than it actually is.

Some engines might have had it up to 2003 model vehicle. I did see a 2003 NBS silverado 3500 6.0 with cable throttle body and EGR. The only way to know would be to look at the date code on the block. Some of the heavier cab over trucks have an EGR as well. I worked on a 2005 Izuzu cab over box van that had an EGR.

I recently went to a yard and they were switching intakes around. He told me it was a 2005 5.3 with low miles. When I went to looked at the date it said 2002 after I told him he was mistaken he insisted it was a 2005. I finally showed him the date code. Then he insisted he had another 5.3 unit. We pulled it down and it had a weird flex plate that I wasn't familiar with. It seemed like a clean unit but I had a hard time inspecting through the Spark plug hole. He dropped the pan and I was able to confirm it was a 4.8 from the crank casting number. Turns out it was from a van.

Just getting back to the 34 build. I keep looking at the ZZ4 and the 200r4. Having never driven a 5.3 L460 I have no idea what motor to use? The LS style if someone convinces me I could always change out for a all alum engine.
I would like to here how they compair I am leaning to the 5.3 but the ZZ4 engine and trans is new and I know my way around them.
