Default factory fog lights, power driver's seat...

Just picked up a 2001 Silverado RCSB today to replace my 2000. It is optioned nearly identical save for the two things mentioned in the title. I'm in the process of pulling my old truck apart and want to transfer the seats and fog lights to my 2001.

How do I go about this? I'm thinking I can just trace the wiring and separate it from the wrecked truck, then reinstall in the 2001.

I believe the Factory wired fog lights is apart of the head lamp Harness which would disconnect under the fuse block on the left fender.

You used to be able to buy a fog light kit from the dealer - I don't think they are available anymore, though. It came with the fog lights, harness from fuse block to lights and the dash switch. Then the BCM needed to be programmed for the fog light option.

Factory setup always had a dash switch.

You're right, I just looked at it again - the button is below the button for the cargo lamp. I thought only the 2003 & newer trucks needed the BCM flashed? I wonder if it is possible/feasible to swap out the BCM?

Once I get the rest of the interior out, I really need to study the wiring.

I'd forgo factory style wiring. It requires you to manually turn the fog lights on after each start of the vehicle. I've seriously thought about splicing into my low beams to just have the fogs on anytime the lows are on. It's really annoying to turn them on all the time.

Thank you again, I was able to easily get the harness and fuse block connection out in one piece. Hopefully the wiring in the cab for the switch is as easy to remove.

The interior one for the switch is part of the dash harness. You will literally have to pull the dash apart to get the complete harness out.

It's about half way apart now, sounds like the rest is going to be a pain.

Just an update, the power seat swap is easy and a direct plug and play. I unplugged everything and swapped the harness for the seats into my 2001 from the 2000.

The fog lights are a different story. I removed all of the pinouts and separated it from the main vehicle harness. Now that I have it in my hands, I despise how it is wired from the factory. I now need to figure out what each wire is/does by color code. Then I want to "dumb down" and simplify the wiring, and eliminate the need for the BCM to be reprogrammed. I haven't searched much, but am hoping I can find a diagram online that tells me the color and function of each wire coming from the switch.

Does anyone have experience with the wiring harness kit from foglightwiring.com ? It may be an option if I am unable to make sense of this spaghetti. I want to be able to use my factory dash switch.

Thanks in advance.
