Default dumb question of the day

Getting my truck ( 2003 Silverado 1500 WT ) ready for NYS inspection. When checking the headlights, I noticed that when I switch to Hi Beam, the LO Beams go off?????? On my other vehicles, all 4 lights stay on when switched to HI Beam.

That's normal. You can do the '4 hi mod' to keep them all on if you wish

Thanks, you made my day!!!!! After all the grief I had getting the brakes up to par, the last thing I wanted was to tackle an electrical issue. Its funny that my 02 Transam, 09 G8 and my 2015 Colorado, all have 4 lights on. Had me worried.

Just search '4hi mod' and you should come up with what you need to make it like your other vehicles.

Sounds like it would be an interesting project. I wonder if the base wiring could handle the extra load since it wasnt designed with that in mind.

I know guys who have had theirs this way for literally a decade with no ill effects. I'd trust it. You're right. It's probably not "designed" for the load, but a pickup was never "designed" to do what most of here do with them either.

If I remember right they sell a relay kit designed for that purpose or you can make your own real cheap
