my 2500HD is a TURD. even without a load. it wont even break the tires loose on a wet dirt road...33" tires on 4.10 gears is lazy. to top it off, I've had a service engine light for the knock sensors for about a year now. I'm replacing them this weekend. not sure if they are pulling timing or what. hoping it helps.

The turd factor is multifactorial but mainly due to the 4l80e. The difference off the line when I went from 60e to 80e was staggering.

Might as well do a new valley cover gasket, knock sensor seals, and harness at the same time.

valley cover gasket is fine. got the sensors and harness in the mail today. I have some low mileage manifold gaskets on an old manifold in the garage.

not sure what a knock sensor seal is...

meh, just change the sensor and throw RTV around the rubber cap, call it a day. If that doesn't fix it, then consider changing the harness. No need to throw extra $$ at it if it doesnt need it

I went out and checked the voltage coming to the MAF(good voltage), but my meter won't read hertz, so couldn't check that. (My good meters are sent out for calibration).
I also read that the fuel pressure regulator could be leaking into the vacuum line and cause these issues, will check that tomarrow.
Also what does the MAP sensor do, doesn't it work with the MAF to tell the comp what's going on?

I have a bad habit of reading to much online, and taking myself in all kinds of directions on what if's, and this might do this.... I drive myself crazy!!
Call SWG Performance in Temple. Great guy and also a great tuner.

When my truck set off the CEL for the knock sensors it lost a ton of power it seemed like. After new sensors I thought it ran much better.

They are. If you have the stock tune I wonder how they even run sometimes lol. There is no timing.... and that retarded power enrichment delay coupled with abuse management..... Jesus. That said they still suck with a tune lol. My 05 1500HD has 4.10's and stock height 245/75/16's with a Detroit locker in the back. It couldn't break the back tires loose if it's life depended on it in a straightline or brakestand at least.

Dump that stock pig of a torque convertor and I wouldn't doubt it would perform a lot better.

It is a bit of difference with the code for the knock sensors versus not but it's not night and day lol.

the harness is cheap and often corrodes when the sensors rust. it's one of those "better go ahead while I'm in there" parts. if the truck didn't pull timing on the stock tune when the sensors were working correctly, I would just delete the CEL. the s10 runs perfectly fine with no knock sensors. I'm trying to keep the HD as stock as possible though (except for the possible turbo lol)

My knock sensor seals ripped when I pulled the valley cover off due to the rust on the post. The whole center blew out on mine.

It Looked like the mounting stand had a **** ring!

In case you need it #12558177 -Valley Cover Knock Sensor Seal SOLD AS A SINGLE
