Default 01 Silverado ground strap?

So what's up guys! I was doing an oil change on my 01 5.3 Silverado the other day and while down there I came across a loose ground strap around the transmission/exhaust area. Now this could probably explain my loss of power at times. What I'm wondering is, does anyone know exactly where I need to fasten it down to?? Any help will be greatly appreciated! 😊

A picture would help... Can't think of any ground strap around that area

Isn't there a ground strap from the rear of the one of the cylinder heads to the transmission bell housing?

I forget which side off hand.

Yes of course tomorrow morning I'll take a picture and post it up. I believe it was on the drivers side that I found that ground strap hanging loose. Iv read they may be on both sides but need to confirm where it mounts too.

There is one on the right side under the intake, bolt goes into the block if I remember correctly.

If it's a ground it can go anywhere, no? When I pulled the tune from my truck with the engine out I had to tie all the grounds together to get a read.

Yeah in theory I guess I could. If been reading that this particular one has spot on the transmission somewhere. I'll take pics tomorrow morning.

There should be a ground strap from the firewall to the hood and another from the back of the block or head to the firewall, want to say there was another one on the passenger side too, but that may have just been a wiring harness ground..

There should be 3 thin gauge black wire grounds, the battery ground, and the braided strap going to the block. Yes another braid from hood to firewall.

Your braid in question grounds to drivers side of motor. I prefer to ground to the block over the heads.

Yes this is what I've been finding out when researching! I just haven't had time to take a pic of the strap in question but you've pretty much identified my problem. I'll look into where I could ground it on the block. Thanks for your feedback!

There are 2 ground strapes for the 01-09 5.3 4l60e combo on these trucks. One is on the driver side from the rear of the cylinder head to a stud about the valve cover(just under the cowl) on the deiver side. Its a wide metal wrap looming wires.
The other on is from the rear of the engine block, just under the rear passanger side of the intake(must be romoved.) And goes to a stud on the bell housing...
