I suppose you can buy the whole assembly if you want to but that's not necessary. Then again if you can get a GM regulator and motor for less than $100, that's not a bad deal.
The cable in my truck's driver's side door broke a year ago and I replaced the regulator only. Here's the GM bulletin which addresses this;

GMSPO has released the power window regulator for the left and right front doors separately from the motor.
