I suppose you can buy the whole assembly if you want to but that's not necessary. Then again if you can get a GM regulator and motor for less than $100, that's not a bad deal.
The cable in my truck's driver's side door broke a year ago and I replaced the regulator only. Here's the GM bulletin which addresses this;

This bulletin is being issued to inform technicians that when performing a repair to the power window system, it is no longer necessary to replace the complete window regulator assembly. GMSPO has released the power window regulator for the left and right front doors separately from the motor.
