Clearly. I've used it to pull oil off of concrete, but looks like I'll have an additional use now. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks- don't be fooled though on the tough spots where the gasket mated I did cheat a little with a scotch bright pad- but most came clean without needing it- it did take awhile to do this- started at about 10am cleaning surfaces and stopped at about 1:30. And still have one more head to clean up.

Note: Just have to be careful with the pad don't want to make the deck or the head surface unlevel you've have issues- those pads can remove some material when there fresh

Also wd40 can in some cases removed permanent marker off painted walls

So the next question is do I do lifters? While I have it apart! How long do oem last? It's not getting a cam

If you aren't camming it, I wouldn't worry about lifters unless you see scuff marks or some signs of wear. I've run them for hundreds of thousands of miles.

Found a new issue- it's in # 8 cylinder to on the lq9

Well hoping it won't be a issue down the road-it Definitely is not fixable with the hone

Were you able to do a compression test on the engine before you pulled it apart? I'm curious how much of an impact that would make. I'm certain it's significant, but just how much is an interesting thought.

No I wanted to but I forgot and by the time I got to remembering again I already had the rockers off- I bet it will be but I'm hoping it won't be to far off compaired to the other 7
