Default Is it worth going 78 to 90mm TB?

Just reinstalled my engine in the 2004 3/4 ton. The original 6.0 died and I went .020 over with a hotcam, headers, tune, converter.

Truck ran fine. But, I needed more intake and injector. After the engine spun a bearing I went ahead and installed the new 90mm NNBS intake with the 36lb injectors. Before I shifter at 6000 because I was simply out of injector and the I take didn't help.

Now I'm turning 6600 on the shifts and it feels much better. On a roll, it down shifts and rips very well for a 4 door 8 lug truck.

At this point, I have the stock 78mm TB on the truck with the adapter. I'm just wanting to know if everyone supports my lack of desire to spend 230$ on a X link to get a 90mm on there. I'm thinking 7 HP if I'm lucky.

What say you all?

You could port and polish ur 78 if not already done. And I totally agree with u for not ant to spend the 230 or whatever it is for the pigtail. I'm a cheap *** and would just buy the 2 pigtails (one to match ur tb connector truck harness side, and the other to match ur 90 tb, get the wiring diagrams for both, and make it urself) and save the 230. I assume this is possible unless there is a resistor or something in the harness.

Supposed to be something that corrects the TPS value or something.

I do have the spare throttle body that I was thinking about porting and swapping. It has a pretty nasty lip that is not helping the incoming air charge.

Ya I figured there was something other than being just an adapter that the xlink did. I'm currently just running the stock truck intake with the 78 on mine til I put on a whipple and need to port and polish mine. It still has that knarly lip that ur talking about.

You'd certainly see benefits because you've already got the NNBS intake.

If it's worth the 230$.... I can't say... That's up to you.

Also that's a very high shift point, what are the cam specs?

It is a howards hotcam grind. I have not been able to find any data showing the difference in power. If it was a 7000 RPM engine I don't think I would hesitate on going to the 90.

Yes there's a little brain in there.

Why don't you log the truck and see how much vacuum you're pulling with the 78mm at WOT at 6000rpm. That'll tell you wether you need the bigger TB or not.

I noticed a huge difference when I swapped from the LQ4 78mm throttle body to the 90mm LS3 throttle body.

Yea I would say without a doubt you will feel a noticeable gain with such a high shift RPM. I would guess you are seeing pretty good vacuum in the intake before you shift.
