Default Valve springs for lq9 with 212/218 high lift cam

Just wondering what I should do for valve springs on this engine with this cam? Buying the engine from my buddy, he is pulling out current pushrods and springs, I am looking at z06 springs, But.. I have another buddy who had the blue springs in a lq9 and a spring broke and destroyed the engine, He also had the comp 918 springs fail as well in his 5.3 with a high lift,

Are the issues with the springs from the z06 done and over with? I see blue, yellow and non painted versions of these springs all over..

Thanks

so the engine you're buying already has the cam in it? I wouldnt run more than .550 lift on the LS beehives

you can get beehives for .600 lift

why is he taking the springs and pushrods? tell him to leave them

Default springs

the comp springs are rated at .625 lift. i run them with 210/224 and
6600 rpm. your cam is just as wimpy as mine. put them on,they
will be fine. there better than the chevy junk.

He is taking springs to run in New engine, they were very spendy and he didn't install them long ago, so I need to run either z06 or something similar. Just trying to make sure the z06 won't break. Cam is .568 for highest lift. The z06 are rated at .570

you will need more than the ZO6 springs, get the Pac's and be done.
Brian Tooney has the good 7.4 push rods very cheap.

Sorry cam is .558/.563. I thought .570 z06 springs would be perfect for this?

Also, what advantage is there to running 7.4 push rods over stock

Default springs

the 7.4 length is stock, but you need better than stock strength.
heavier springs make stock push rods flex

Pac 1218s are good and are pretty cheap. I ran those with a 224/581 cam for over 40k miles with no issues.
