Here's the cam I was talking about. It does pretty well in an S10 but I'd say for a 1/2 ton truck you'd only end up hurting yourself with the loss of low end.

go to a local truck recycler's or like a junkyard specializing in trucks (or anything with an F-body or something) and rip that motor out for probly a G or less. It'll be worth the down time of taking it slow, pulling the motor urself and doing everything right then shoving money in a V6. Unless its a Grand National I'd say **** it. talk to 2005Silverado, he did a 4.3 to 4.8 swap in his 05 M5 Silv not too long ago

Default more hp from a 4.3

you can get more low end by removing the damper from the throttle plate or you can get one off ebay for around 40.00 also if you have 2 cats and 4 o2 sensors you can put true dual exhaust on it helps alot the throttle plate makes a quick response lot of low end gain
