Tuning LQ9
Hello Everybody
I am planning to re-tune my LQ9 engine today. So, I got 343 Hp on rear tire
out of it on this setup with no modifications on the shifting point and RPM of
6600:
- Comp Cam
- PRC Cylinder Heads & CNC Ported
- Pacesetter LT
- Corsa Sport Catback
- Stock Intake Manifold
- Stock Air Intake
Is 343 HP good on that setup or not?
Now, I have installed the following, and I need to know what is the expected
HP and what is the best RPM to get the maximum power out of it with no
harm on the engine?
- AFE Cold Air Intake
- NGK TR6 Spark Plugs
- MSD wires
So, any suggestions on things I can tell the tuner to focus on when tuning
the car?
Also, If someone could benefit me, what is the normal fuel range for a stock
LQ9 and a modefied LQ9 such as mine? for some reason I think my LQ9
consumes alot of fuel even with normal acceleration. Maximum I got is 478Km
with one tank.
Thank you in advance

I have an LQ9 crate motor with long tubes and cold air intake and put down 342hp/384tq at the wheels. I would think another 20-30hp is very doable for you, but I can't help much with tuning.
When you were on the dyno did you get your AFR? You think it consumes a lot of fuel - what is your city mpg? highway mpg?
I get about 13-14mpg city and around 20-22 highway

What kind of valve springs and pushrods? Any loud sewing machine noises? Fuel type? Copy of the tune? Log file?
You should be around 10:1 compression. If you’re worried about the 60e, then you probably shouldn’t be strapping it to the dyno.
If it were me, I’d pull the 317s, put 706s and dual springs and redo the dyno.
