Default Time for new Heads

well i have a 2005 5.3l with castech heads that decided to start leaking. im about to pick up some 799 heads and was wanting to get my ducks in a row on ordering parts. i know i should mill the 799 so the chamber is around 60-61cc. from what i read thats milling off .025-.03" off.

im trying to figure out my compression ratio and what it would take to achieve possibly a 10 to 1 compression.

right now im looking at the ls1 mls head gaskets (12498544) with a .051 compressed thickness.

the block has never been touched as far as i know.

i have put all the specs i know into calculators and they keep coming up with different results. basically anywhere from 9.85-10.43 to 1.

my truck cant be down for more then a weekend. i may be able to swing it but really don't want to. if it has to i would rather just go with a proven set up then chase numbers.

Well i picked up the 799 heads and had them milled supposedly 0.027" to make it around a 59.5cc chamber. Going to messure them in a little bit. Should make the static compression around 9.8 to 1 with a stock 0.051" gasket. More to come when i slowly gather parts.

Any input would be highly welcomed

I was told on my 2004 5.3 with 58cc heads I should be at 10:1. This is according to TSP.

heres a few calculations. it should be a 59cc for the 10:1. i just ordered all the stuff i think i need other then the push rods as i need to measure for those. ether way i should be happy where the numbers sit now.
