Yes you

I ask because I had a built trans in my previous 99 2dr 2wd Tahoe with a Yank billet 3200 and it was awesome. That was the best mod, period. It drove like a bat outta hell and surprised a lot of people. No tune either.

Now, in my 07 Tahoe PPV (stripped down LS Tahoe) stock trans w/a shift kit jr and an FTI billet 2800/3000 stall and a tune. It sucks to be honest. I think I should've gone with a 3400/3600 to compensate for the extra weight over the 2dr.
I actually think the converter is one of my issues with part throttle drivability.

I was given a TB converter for basically free from a friend and it only has like 500 miles on it. I'm gonna put it in probably this weekend and try it. It's higher stall than my OEM one so anything would be an improvement. Depending on how well it works will determine whether I keep using it or eventually upgrade to an aftermarket one with more stall.

The 6 banger Trailblazer converter only flashes up to 2600 or so behind a 6 liter in an extended cab 4x4..... you will want a looser converter than that.

I spoke to FTI and for my application where I tow a boat with it on occasion they recommended I don't go higher than a 2800 stall.

I tow a lot heavier than a boat and I have a 3000-3200 in front of an 80E in a 1500HD. I would say they are a little conservative in that department. Hell the stock 80E converter in a 6 liter is 2600-2700 rpm stall with a load on it especially. Your engine is going to be making nothing for power at 2800 rpm or less.

Converter was the recommendation Circle D gave with a rated tow weight of up to 10000 lbs.....

No disrespect but I find it hard to believe the stock converter behind a 6 liter is 2600-2800 when the OEM converter behind a stock 4.8 is only 1700. The smaller the motor, the higher the stall they put behind them. That's why the Trailblazers with the I6 motors have a higher stall.

Go with at least a 3200, that'll put a big ole smile on your face

Stall speed isn't just engine size... Your truck has a really low tow rating, isn't overly heavy and has maybe a 6200 lb GVWR..... that's why it has a low stall. I have only had like 10 6 liter HD trucks.... they will flash and brake torque to 2600 rpm very easily.... The 60E also has more gear reduction in first and the weight of the truck is substantially less especially loaded. You can't legally make your truck weigh 9200 lbs and tow 6000 lbs and still be legal.... but a 6 liter 2500HD sure can.

I will just say this though and try and not take it the wrong way.... You asked for advice and have subsequently told everyone here they are wrong or their information is wrong; so in essense why bother asking in the first place. In the end nobody really cares.... you are the one that has to drive the truck, not the rest of us on the board lol.

Good luck with your truck.
