On the 58x motors its pretty easy as i have one in my 07 RCSB in my sig but the older ones are a little harder. Some people have used a complete dropout with the new pcm and still have to use the factory pcm to run gauges. Probobly what keeps peolpe from doing this.

Hello Sir. I was reading your post about this swap that you performed. I also have a 2001 swb truck but with a 5.3. I want to swap it to the 6.2 but still use the original transmission. Is this possible to do? Could you explain to me what all will be needed to convert it? I saw where you made a harness so I know I'll need that part but anything else would be appreciated. I tried to send a pm but your box is full.

Knock sensor extension harness, can sensor harness extension, 58x to 24x conversion(either changing the reluctor on the crank or the electronic adaptor) then there is fuel injector adaptors, return to returnless style fuel system... 6.2L is gen 4 and can be run off the factory harness and pcm, with adaptors... Other option is if you dont have the engine already, get ahold pf a gen 3 short block and run the l92(823 casting) heads...

I used a Corvette fuel filter to convert to returnless fuel system.

If I recall correctly GM didn't start DBW on the trucks until 2003 so you'll need a cable operated throttle body if your truck isn't so equipped.

Everything else should be a straightforward swap. I used my original motor mounts because the NNBS ones were too tall to allow the intake to clear my cowl.

Seems easiest way to convert is to run the vette filter, how did you mount yours??

I built a small bracket and mounted it to the valve cover and then built a hose to connect it to the fuel rail.

I used the bracket that came with it and bolted it to my fuel rail bolt or an intake bolt... Its been a while!!! I do know that i had to spin #7 injector around and it makes getting the injectors disconnected a pain, luckily i have adaptor harnesses!!!

That's not entirely true. They did have DBW as early as 2000 on the 1500 series GMT800 but it was only on trucks and SUV's equipped with the Autoride option. It's different from the 2003 up stuff.

FYI Some 2500/3500 applications continued to use the cable TB in 2003 as well.
