In Search of Muscle Car Hemi Muffler Sound
Who remembers the awesome exhaust note produced by the the Dodge Hemi mufflers of yesterday?
I've got a custom grind Comp cam 212/218 .590/.610 lift 112 +2 centerline I'm getting ready to install, along with the LPP LT's and catless Y-pipe, 2 into 1 into 2 tail pipes that exit behind the rear wheels in my 5.3. Current muffler is a Flow Master SS Super 40. I want the Hemi muffler sound without any nasty drone inside the cab.
Muffler/resonator suggestions? True duals is a viable and probable option. Thoughts??

Big block vs. small block. With all the trick stuff Ive done to my truck (.040 over 6.0), try as I might, will never sound like my GTO (455 RamAir). Just not gonna happen. Yank the small motor in favor of a built 8.1?? I have never heard a set of Flowmasters sound good on these trucks. I read somewhere about the different firing order maybe?? Idn. But I do know that the largest Magnaflow works really well. The larger you go the deeper the note. My 2-cents.

Flow Master Delta 40 now but I'm running the OEM cats and Y-pipe. Not particularly crazy about the exhaust note and I'm pretty sure it's really gonna roar once the cats are gone and the long tubes are on. I've only heard one set of straight through gpacks I really liked years ago on a Dodge 408 stroker motor I built for my Ramcharger. Again...., different motor. Listened to a Borla XR-1 oval sound bite on You Tube today that sounded pretty nice. Only prob is all I know for sure is that it was a SS Borla Oval. Didn't get any sizes or which specific XR-1 it was...
