proper cleaning for 2003 newer style all electric throttle body?
Hello,
My 2003 Silverado has had a idle problem for a while and I finally went to try to clean the throttle body but had a few questions.
Since my throttle body was the first electric one and I can't get to the IAC easily, is it safe to spray into the little hole holing it on the upper left of the throttle body? Or how else can I get to it and replace it?also, all I can find are idle air control valves designed for the older style throttle body, where can I find a IAC for the electric style ones for my 2003 Silverado 4.8?
Next, the front of my throttle body and a few tiny nicks and the butterfly has a light scratch on it, is this going to affect my idle once it's properly clean? I don't know who nicked it and scratched it but before I put a cold air intake it idled perfectly and never dropped under 500rpm
All help would be greatly appreciated!

ALSO! is it safe for me to push the butterfly open with my hand so I can clean the other side(am not able to remove the coolant lines that hold it in) or will that hurt the electric motor that controls the butterfly?

just find something heavy to put on the gas pedal, or better yet get a friend to step on the pedal and hold it open, truck has to be in accessory mode in the ignition to do this, be careful with the flap, and don't spray too much in the manifold, idk if itll do anything bad but I didn't wanna find out when I did it. Also blue shop towels tend to work best for cleaning.

Yes, I have a hose that goes into the black plastic part right behind where the throttle body bolts on. I'm guessing that's where the tiny hole on the outter side of the throttle body is going to, not the IAC? I hope that's not the case because I've sprayed a little throttlebody cleaner into that little hole.

throttle body cleaning
what we used to do at the gm dealer I worked for was open it manually spray bg plenum cleaner in there. don't drown it with the whole can obviously. and then with the tech 2 do an idle relearn. it slips my mind which years had that feature and which didn't. but to my knowledge they didn't have iacs the idle was controlled through the tac motor asnd would basically keep the throttle plate cracked slightly. we had to replace a lot of throttle bodies for the issue though. and without being able to do the relearn procedure through the scantool provided it is an available procedure for your application it may not do you any good even after your clean it until it can be relearn good luck man hope that helps you.
