Just changed the oil on my 05 with 5.3 and dumped in 6 qts. Don't even show up on the dipstick. Check a factory new dipstick today and they are the same. What gives ?

make sure its the right dipstick and the tube is all the way in, the whole point of the dipstick is to make sure the oil level is right so the pick up tube gets oil. I don't care if you have to add 20 quarts of oil make sure its at least reading on the stick.

I would dump 2 quarts out once you get this fixed, not a good idea to run with 8 quarts in the system.
