Needing help choosing cam for 5.3 build
I have a 2005 ex. Cab z71 has 6" lift and 35s just recently bought a 5.3 to build and drop in eventually but am new to internal work with that being said im needing help choosing the best cam, lifters, valve springs, stall etc for my truck. Its my daily driver, drive out of state quite often so its not a race truck or anything. Looking for a nice choppy idle and to gain lost power back that followed after i installed the lift and tires. All info and input will be greatly appreciated!

You will be best off doing some gears. 4.30s would be right about perfect. (4.10s if you want better highway mileage, 4.56 if you want more grunt) You have 3.73s now which is ******* you down low. As I am sure your biggest concern is torque and low to mid range you will want to keep the duration down on the cam. Also the stall will be more mild biased.
A 212/218 high lift is a proven cam with great all over gains and would work with a stock stall.
A 216/220 trick flow cam would also work great, best on the wallet and work great with a 2600 stall from circle d.
A 220/224 would be the biggest I would suggest based on what you have told us. This would be best combined with a 2800-3200 stall from circle d.
Springs are usually pretty easy basically anything from Pac or Prc with at least a .600 rating.
LS7 lifters work well in most mild situations.
