Exclamation Need some advice about turbo lq4 setup, stall and tuning.

Hello, I'm new to the forum but not to the hobby. I'm having no luck with the search option, (it won't display a text box to type in when I click search). Anyway, I recently purchased a 2000 short cab short box Silverado with an extensive list of mods.

I was told it has a 6.0 lq4, stage 2 78mm precision turbo kit, intercooler, don't know what size BOV, 80# or 88# injectors, a Stage 3 MAD DOG 4wd 4l60e good for 650hp, 8" suspension lift, 4.11 gears front and rear, Yukon rear end locker, larger axles and a list of appearance alterations.

So I bought the truck with the intentions taking the turbo kit, tranny, axles, front and rear gears, and put it all in my 2003 4wd Tahoe LT. Ill be taking the stock parts out of the tahoe and putting them in the green truck, returning its drivetrain back to stock (except with a 6.0) and then posting it for sale.

I'm aiming to make the Tahoe an SS Tahoe including the Silverado SS front clip swap within the next month or so. My Tahoe has a strongg flex fuel 5.3. I'm wondering how much boost is safe with e85 on that 5.3 and how much boost is safe on 91, 93 etc before I burn a piston (assuming that'd be the first thing to go wrong)? I'm lowering the Tahoe 3" front and rear while its in the shop as well. Its not my daily driver but I do drive it often and tend to be hard on it. Looking to get to about 6, or 700whp, hopefully mid 12s? Is that within my range? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

Also wondering about tune.. What direction do I go in for tune with the Tahoe and the soon to be turbo 5.3? I'm just trying to get it back on the road soon. I have a forged 408 being built now that will be going in the Tahoe with all those goodies in the near future, just figured I'd see what power I can get with the 5.3 while its already in there.

What size is the cam??

That can help you will your stall speed.

What size injectors are they and what brand??

Anything you do will require a custom tune no matter what but you will need that information to be able to tune it.

I'm sure there is someone in your area that is proficient with tuning ls based vehicles, maybe another member can chime in. If all else false you can do remote tuning with a good tuner. The injectors and cam should work (depending on the cam specs), if you are going to be putting the 408 in i would just leave the stock cam in the 5.3 and roll with it.

4l60's aren't known for being very strong in stock form and if you are shooting for 6-700 HP (especially in a heavy tahoe) i would highly consider a 4L80 swap. Which would could be done for less than having a built 4L60.

I cant really comment on the stall size but i would recommend talking to circle d or another one of site sponsors.

OK, so here's the deal. I bought the truck built already from a guy who didn't know much about it because he bought it built already and only owned it for 4 hours before he doubled his money on the truck. I've been trying to track down the previous owner before him all day to get some more info on it. Success!!

The previous owner just informed me it already has a 3500 stall and 4.11 gears front and rear. With Yukon rear end locker? Its got a stage 3 MAD DOG (not Bulldog) transmission, good for upwards of 650hp with less than 1500 miles on it, and 80# or 88# Deca? Injectors. The stage 2 Precision turbo is currently set for 12psi. The smoke was just a leaky exhaust on the driver side. He said the miss/roughness is most likely the stock 6.0 needing a tune. I watched it start and it looked like it was idling fine? SO, I may be holding on to the 10k motor and selling the truck with the 6.0... Looks like I'm just gonna start there and look for a cam.

Not to burst a bubble but no built 4L60e will take the abuse of 800 or even 1000hp behind a full size truck. Most don't even like 600+ when built up and the cost is so darn high. A built 4L80e is another story though.

Here is a link to the trans that's in it: 4L60E/4L65E Transmission

I see it says good for 650hp.. Fml... Don't think it will hold up?

Here is a short clip I took of it running before starting to take the turbo kit off:
