Need some 04 silverado 5.3 advise
I have an 04 Silverado 4x4 with a 5.3L it has 210,XXX miles spectra cool air intake and true duel exhaust with flowmasters. im not sure what the pipe diameter is.
I am wanting to modify it a little bit and im not sure what i should do to it. I use it as a daily driver. I pull trailers quite often with it. I am wanting to lift it and put 22" rims and 35-12.50 tires on it. It is lacking low end power. My thoughts are, i should install a cam, head work and tune it. ive never really messed with any of that so my question is what do i need? I am wanting a mildly choppy cam. I want it to sound mean. If i stomp the throtle i want the tail end to break lose. What cam should i get, will i need valve springs, do i keep factory intake? I have a lot of questios, could anyone help me? Thank you for your time and advise.

Would start with a higher stall converter, and a cam would be next... The 22s will not help with your wanting more low end, as they are heavy as hell and will take more to get moving, especially with some heavy *** 35" tires.... With the miles you have on it now a rebuild may be in order as well.... Not saying there arent plenty of 5.3s out there that get cam swaps, etc done on them with just as many miles, but a fresh set of rings, bearings and gaskets will at the very least give you some peace of mind!! Oil pump would be a good idea too if youre going i there anyway!!

I have a 3000 in my 99 behind the cammed 6.0 and at times i feel it is a little much for a dd, probably couldve gotten away with a 26-2800 and been fine.... No expert on the subject, by any means, but would go with at least 2600 or so and that may change depending on the cam you want to run, i honestly really liked the tb converter i had in it at one point and kind of wish i had stayed with it.... Am certainly not going to argue with way truck feels now though, just took some getting used to is all!!!
