Default Need help with my 5.3 to lq9 swap

What's up everyone? I'm in need of some input on my 5.3 to lq9 swap, my truck is a 2000 gmc sierra sle 2wd 5.3 with 4l60e Trans, I just picked up a complete Change over lq9 4l70e with wire harness, ecu and gas peddle out of a 2006 vortec max Silverado, I would want to use everything that came with the lq9 being that I'm going to use the 5.3 in my 1970 c10. what do I need to do to make it work, regarding the drive by wire and electric fans? Any input would help thanks in advance.

Do believe the gas pedal bolts in but youre gonna have to use youre harness and pcm in the 2000 because in 2003 they took alot of stuff (i.e. Ac) out of the pcm and moved it all to bcm, etc. honestly think youd be better off using the 2006 harness pcm etc in the 70 and just bolting the gas pedal in or possibly getting one that will retro into it i believe lokar makes one... The e fans will hook up like factory intended in your 2000, you just lose the aito recirc function when your ac is off...which i hated anyway!!!

If I use the wire harness and pcm from my truck can I still use the intake and throttle body that came with the lq9?

Use the 2000 Components with the the LQ9. the newer PCM will not work in the older platforum.
99-02 = 512 KB PCM
03-07classic = 1 MB PCM

The 2 systems are not interchangeable.

Yes, you can swap your throttle body over to the LQ9 intake.

Im running an 04 lq9 block with 2010 l92 heads with a 2012 intake off my 99 pcm!!! Not sure when they changed the wiring of maf and map may have been 07, sure someone else will chime in on that

So I would be using the 2000 harness, pcm and throttle body, with the lq9s intake correct? Thanks for the help I'm actually getting ready to pull out the ingine hopefully tomorrow.

What's your guys thoughts on the drive by cable vs drive by wire? I hear some good and bad on both ends. Just don't know if I should leave in DBC or Change it to DBW.

Whenever possible dbc!! Less to break, better throttle response, and maybe an old school way of thinking but a mechanical link to the throttle always feels better imo!! Im sure with proper tuning and a quality throttle body the dbw would be alot better, but i can feel a delay when i punch it in my yukon, Camaro is another story, may have to do with 4l60e vs t56 too..

Yes,

As noted earlier in this thread the Oil pressure senor is different, 1 wire Vs. the later 3 wire design, so you will need to swap that. Be careful as it's not un-common for those to break. The plastic on top is brittle and can be easily damaged if your not careful

I did this exact swap for a buddy of mine and we broke his. Had to go to the Parts store and get a new one.

Any tuner can re-tune your PCM with LQ9 parameters. I also recommend using a 2002 operating system as there are a few more tables from the 99. Also If you decide to Run E-fans later it will be an easier swap. Some of the 99-01 operating systems don't function correctly for E fans.

We used an 02 Operating System on my buddies truck and everything functions correctly.

You will have less electrical head aches with DBC.

Just remember this... KISS=Keep It Simple Stupid.

So it is possible to use an 02 operating system in the 99-01 pcm??? I really need to learn more about and get a tuning program and start playing with it.... I was told you couldnt force an 02 os into a 99 pcm or that you couldnt program an 02 pcm with a 99 vin.. Arent the pcms the same other than the os??
