A lazy spark map can cause this as well.

i dont think its a tuning issue really. i mean it screams, just not off idle. im also still running stock intake, stock injectors, stock fuel pump, and stock converter.

I commented on his tune being ok simply because he used a very experienced tuner that I'm sure got it dialed in. I would expect a 216/220 to not start pulling hard until 3k in a 5.3.

The same comp 216/220 would probably work great for the OP, or better still a BTR stage II or III. Just my opinion because it seems these truck engines respond very well to smaller duration cams. Especially if you intend to tow with it.

If it were still "tuned" by Justune I would agree with you. He screwed my **** ALL up. But Area47 did a very awesome job at retuning my truck. I also referred him to a buddy of mine and my buddy is very pleased as well.
