If it were on a 112, sure, the power would come in a bit sooner but it would have more overlap and idle much choppier but it's still going to make it's peak power in a similar rpm range.

Another thing is the tuning. Most tuners, won't tune EOIT. It's simple to run the numbers through a spreadsheet and modify the values. KeninAZ took my suggestion and modified his and he noticed a big difference.

Spark map tuning plays a part to. If your spark map is all jacked up and not tuned, you loose power on the low end have drivability issues, etc.

Think of duration as how long that valve stays open through the intake cycle. If it's a higher number, power will be made later in the rpm band.

If the valves close sooner, you'll make power much sooner.
right on. thats how i understood it, just like u said it. didnt know that the duration played a big a part as it does (as related to where the power is made in the rpm band.) my cam doesnt have a crazy duration but its like urs, as in in its kind of a dog off idle. but it screams on the highway.

Your issue is a tuning problem. lol...

I had a Comp LSR 265 in the old 5.3, it was nasty torquey off-idle. No reason why your 216/220 shouldn't be the same.

Thats a pretty big cam in a truck.

I want to understand more about what you want to accomplish before giving any advice. How loose of a converter will you have?

The part number is comp cam 54-000-11 right now i have a stock transmission nothing else to it. I want to swap it out for a 4l80. I want to be able to tow a RV when I have to because of my job. But when I am not doing that I want to still have fun with my truck.

Probably not a tuning problem. I'm guessing your cam comes time life around 3 grand? Sounds like a converter problem!

See, that's just to general of a question.

But, based on what you said you wanted to do, something in the area of a 3000 stall would do you well as long as you have a decent transmission cooler.

Yup. Stick to 3000

You're going to need a cam with decent pop out of it. That will mean not going too big.
