Man I don't even want to know what I would have seen if I had a non magnetic magnet. There was a good amount of bearing material and the other picture shows some of the big chunks of steel

Also before I forget I do believe part of the lifter somehow made it through. If you look the post that holds the roller bearing itself. I have a circular steel piece that looks identical. No idea but as soon as we have some good weather I'll be pulling the engine and tearing it down

I always find it amazing the luck people have with rather oddball metal debris being able to make it to an oil pan or a filter knowing the path it has to go to. Wonder what your pickup tube screen looks like too!

over the winter i took my pan off my bike to get a new one on and inspected the pickup tube and screen to find a goddamn rock and gasket sealant bits in there. bike has 11k miles but i bet that rock was from a careless oil change and getting into the fill tube. But, the innerds of that bike are spotless. rotella 15w40 is a champ in bikes. Still, a rock pebble in a bike at 13k rpm would make for a sad panda should it go through the system.

You know they sell magnet cans that slip onto the oil filter?

I cant find a pic of my buddys girlfriends car when we did that motor but under the valve cover were pools of brass shavings in all the corners. The valve guides were brass... until they dissolved. oil looked like goldschlager vodka it was so sparkly

That's nuts man lol. As for a filter I do run a k&n with a filtermag brand magnet. But I think my oil pump is what's putting shavings throughout the engine it keeps fluctuating in oil pressure now. Either something got picked up in the pick up tube that's causing a restriction or the pump is taking a ****. Not to mention it just overheated in 30 degree weather too. I was regretting buying a short block but I'm starting to think it was a real good idea lol
