Default MagnaFlow Catalytic Converters?

Well I have lost another cat. The 1st posted up here in 2011 was replaced free by GM.
Now 5 years later and out of warranty the GM 900.00+ replacement y-pipe and cats option is not pretty.

My local O'Riley's has a Magnaflow y-pipe and cats in stock under $500.00.

Just wondering if there are any kind words on the MF Cat line.

Thanks

It would be cheaper to just have some welded into the stock y-pipe. Would be worth a shot to hit up a exhaust shop and see what they can do for you.

Magnaflow work but often the cell count is way less than factory and on some vehicles cause a rear o2 code for saying the cat isnt working enough (P0420). Not saying that this will be the case for you.

Ive used them as weld in replacements with no issue. Will pass emission tests too.

Cant go wrong with MF high flow spun cats. I've used them on several other vehicles with zero issues from inspections/sniffers.

i run the magna flow 3" . if you are boosted i would run them a foot or so past your collector or you will destroy them. also if you are running too rich i believe that can burn them up too

I just installed them on my Avalanche. So far so good, not codes but it has not been to a smog test station yet. They are not legal in California, most places won't even ship to California but I found a guy on Ebay who shipped them to my front door. I also installed the full Magnaflow full catback 3" mandrel bent pipe and straight through muffler. Quite happy with the results.
