Never use any bolt to pull the pulley on with, stock length or longer. Before I started building my tool I used the "longer grade 8 bolt" method and fucked up a crankshaft on a guys truck.. That was when I started building my tool.

We all know you've built your tool way before time

Even with a light or long pick or screwdriver, there appear to be no threads.

Hmmm. Not to sure about this.

The key weight on the crank sits a pretty good way back. The balancer does not go over the key weight. It seems to butt up to that.

Is this balancer a press fit?

Yes it is. The keyway is for the timing gear, not the front pulley.

Because the engine is internally balanced, the lower pulley can go on in any position. Unless the threads have been stripped out of the crank snout. Pretty much junk at that point...

True.

As I already said. There appear to be no threads. The hole is only about 2 1/4" back. Machine shop can fix that or extract the bolt.

My question was is the balancer pressed on vs being a tradational threaded style.

Upon looking at doing some more observation. It looks like the orginal balancer bolt has broken off right at where the threads start.

remove the crank pulley, and see if there is enough meat in there to get a grip on the bolt to extract it. penetrating oil and heat helps. ez out it from there if you cant get a vice grip on it.
