Default Looking to review best cams for nitrous

I have 5.3 high miled truck i want to go through. I have MAS nx 150 shot. Pace setter LT headers.

I want the best cam for the nitrous because its going to be race truck only.

I have tru cool & 3200 stall for my 4l60 but debating th400 cuz of the price difference for a built trans. & manual shiftings fun as hell.

I wouldn't choose a cam based on nitrous use until you get past a 225 shot. 150 aint **** for a race only truck. there are daily drivers on a 250 shot. but there are some with more experience that may say otherwise.

Is there an electronic i can buy that will have the rpm window switch, rev limiter for fun, & allow me to do a hit in every gear?

Is there an electric water punp i can run manually that is still streetable?

With a stock bottom end, I'd probably limit it to about 150 shot. I know people have done more, but it starts to get dicey. The higher you go the more critical tuning becomes. A plate system is not good for more than a 200 shot anyway. The big shot systems are usually direct port. If I was building a nitrous engine for a 250 shot, it would have forged pistons with steel top rings to handle the higher heat and forged rods with ARP bolts. Instead of a window switch, invest in a progressive controller.

To answer the cam question, you can spray with almost any cam. But, nitrous likes a wide duration separation (higher duration on the exhaust. If this is race only (no street cruising), you can go bigger than most pople generally recommend, although the 3200 stall will be the limiting factor. Maybe check out the Tick Performance "SNS" torqueMAX Stage 1 V2 Camshaft for LS2?

I would be ok with a big cam to where i would have to run a booster.
3200 stall be limiting as i should have a bigger?

That progressive controller seems awesome & my system is already NX.

Where can i look for adapters for the th400 a built 1 is so much cheaper than a 4l60?

What anyones opinion. Since i'm on a budget.

Stock LS2 cam- can prob get for under $200 & hit 400hp

Verse aftermarket such as tick.
Lil under $400, dunno the benefits?

I know i cant make much more all motor power from a 5.3 how will stock react w 150 shot compared to the Tick?

For racing I would scratch the LS2 cam. If the budget's tight, maybe look at the Trick Flow cam. You also need valve springs and pushrods. A cam swap is not cheap.

my sell if i were to do a cam swap right now i think i would go with this voodoo 217/223 cam as it seems to have a good all round power and low lift so it wouldn't strain the valve train as much. it is however fairly expensive compared to what your doing.

right now i would just be slowly buying parts like the trunnion upgrade to the rockers, hardened rods, new springs, and maybe even new lifters.
