Calm down guys.......I was just being funny.
My buddy had a stone stock 454ss in high school and we took it to the track and it ran something like 15.60's or something. I remember laughing my *** off at him cause he told everyone it had to be a 12 second truck. I'll give him a little credit, it felt like it was gonna run a 12 something for about the first 30 feet when it hooked.
At the time I had a 89 Formula 350. Remember the ol'trusty L98 days! Only reason why I bring it up....the 454 truck and the tpi 350 had about the same powerband.....felt like it was gonna go pretty good then the tac would die around 4500 rpm.
I know this place is a sanctuary for die hard ls guys, I just feel obligated to give people **** when one has to replace a rat motor.

I don't really know what you're talking about when you say vortec 350, but if you are referring to the 350 engine that also came in 1990 trucks, you're on crack if you think one will hang with a 454ss truck.
...and if you think a fresh 6.0 would feel more snappy than a 454 you're on meth.
...and if you think they "made a lot of those trucks" (referring to the 1990 454ss) you're on a good "houston cocktail" For those that don't know about the Houston Cocktail it is a proper mix of hydrocodone, carisoprodol, alprazolam.

Lay off your drug addiction accusations unless it's a reflection of self. They made lots of 1990 trucks... the TBI 454 is a gutless wonder... and a Vortec 350 that came along in 1996 will hang right with one... yep a 454 with the rpm range of a 12 valve Cummins is a real riot... lol.

They had the "peanut heads" with tiny ports and small valves was the problem. It may have had cubes but was breathing through a straw. '73 & '74 old iron heads #049 & #781 were the ticket for a cheap swap. A set of heads, mild cam and headers and its a beast. Big block torque is awesome!

RCSB '73 here with ported 049s, headers and a 750 holley. It was so much fun suprising the little 5.0 mustangs in the mid-late 80s!
