Default Looking at a different truck - he says it just lost oil pressure.

It's a 05 with 199xxx miles - crew cab gmc sierra with the 5.3 so my question is how many people have seen these motors just drop to no oil pressure in stock form? I talked to the guy he said it happened when he went to go past someone. He swears is the pick up to. Just looking for some insight of what's common - (sensor failure) i'm going to look in another two hours.

i test drove a truck with high miles (200k+) and it just dropped oil pressure while driving it, wasnt even abusing it. needless to say i didnt buy the truck..lol
o-ring and oil pump failures arent that uncommon, if indeed it looses pressure the lifters will let you know pretty quickly..

how quickly did he shut it down? if it went from normal to zero i would look at the sensor and the oring. they will usually give you a little warning before a pump goes out (lazy oil pressure)

Low on oil can cause pressure drops too

The gauges are known for dying as well. Something to think about if it still sounds/runs normal. I had an 05 that I bought with cluster problems. Ran fine

happen to me actually on the way to ls1truck shootout last march. oil gauge was being erratic then went completely down to zero. i stopped check oil level, it was fine, checked from what i could see inside oil cap looked like it was getting oil while running. made the trip and made it home being kinda conservative on mph. changed the oil sensor got oil pressure back and all has been fine..

glad thats all it was considering i was 270 miles away from home.
