LM7 5.3 Build up
OK, i have a Chevy Z71 with the 5.3L. i'm wanting to build the motor. i would like to know where i can get High performance parts, and a engine kit? i'm also looking for a performance book on the 5.3L i want to know if there are any building tips or tricks?. i can't find much. i talked to Comp cam, they have a cam for it and rockers, i'm going to do alot of the bolt on stuff, but i want to know if i can do more, and where to get it?

i'm looking for a strong motor, i like to 4x4 with it and i pull all my toys with it, and i want the power to be there when i pull up to a light i can smoke any factory truck out there. i would like to get about 400hp out of it useing stock pistons, sometime down the road i would to put a supercharger on it, but for now i'm just going to build it for all around performance. i know there alot of little things you can do to a LS1 that does alot. but i'm new to this LM7 engine. thats why i would really like to have a performance book on just the LM7. i have seen the books on the LS1 and LS6 but having trouble find much info on the 5.3L. i would like to do some head work to the stock heads, and i would like to know if there is any thing i could do that will show alot of inporvement to the engine, with out costing alot.
if anyone can help, thanks.

Best bang for the buck is cubic inches.First question what is your current budget and can you do your own work or would you have to pay someone? For about $1500 you should be able to do a cherry pull out 6.0,install a used mild cam and a tune, you would have around 340 RWH,add headers as you go and a blower at a later date you would be over 400hp

the LS1 certainly has an advantage with more parts being available as well as more cubes which with the heavy truck would be nice. 400hp is something that can be done, but you'll need some converter to go with it. car craft or one of them got 400hp with a 5.3 recently, i'd check that article out.
