lh6 dod
I have been rebuilding the lh6 in ly 06 97x due to rod bearing being spun. New rotating assembly and doing a dod delete. I have been looking for the releif valve in the oil pan and dont see one. Only thing i see is the oil filter bypass valve. I read on the bulletins for dod oil consumption about the afm sheild that the bulletin may not apply to some mid size suvs due to oil pan differences. None of the searchs or pictures i have found is anything that is in my pan. Any help is appreciated.

Like 05-07 trailblazers, envoys, saab 97x's got an all aluminum engine with DOD. Pretty much the very first ones with it and all are problem prone.
Sorry I can't help on the oil pan deal, maybe they decided later on that adding the relief valve was needed.
Oil consumption could be from that valve cover issue, and it getting past the rings in the cylinder and of course the early dod tech that fails.

The dod oil consumption wont be an issue since i rebuilt and deleted everything. enclosed is a pic of the oil pan but i beleive the valve on the oil filter is the filter bypass not the releif valve.
